(11 Alive) – The Brookhaven Police Department held its third annual Shop with a Badge event on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at the North Druid Hills Road Target
A total of 50 families were sponsored by the event. Many of those families had more than one child. The total amount of the sponsorship exceeded $10,600.
The event was possible due to all the donations to the Brookhaven Police Hot-Pursuit 5K, which took place in September 2016.
The children were paired with Brookhaven police officers, DeKalb sheriff deputies, Georgia state troopers, and Chatcomm 911 operators, and other first responders who helped pick out holiday gifts for the kids’ families.
The participating children were referred to the program with the assistance of the Brookhaven Boys and Girls Club.
