FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) – A Macedonia firefighter saved a dog by giving the animal CPR after a house fire in Forrest County.

Three animals were found in the home. A Pomeranian and a cat died.

The Pomeranian was given CPR for 15 to 20 minutes before being declared dead. The cat was unable to be revived.

A third dog was taken out of the home by Macedonia Firefighter Caleb Lazenby.

Lazenby took the animal to Trauma Certified EMT Scott Gunther who resuscitated the animal after 10 minutes of CPR. The dog was given oxygen and taken to Petal Animal Clinic.

Vets say the dog is doing very good, and should be fine with no long-term effects.
