– A helicopter crew rescued a man, woman and small dog from the side of a cliff at Rodeo Beach on Saturday afternoon, California Highway Patrol officers said.

The dog tumbled 80 feet over the side of the cliff, and its owners, both in their 30s from San Francisco, climbed down to rescue it.

The group couldn’t climb any farther because of the steep terrain and the difficulty of handling the dog, CHP officers said.

ust before 2 p.m., the Southern Marin Fire Department requested help from a CHP helicopter to conduct a hoist rescue on the group.

A crew of three arrived in the helicopter 15 minutes later, CHP officers said.

A firefighter rappelled down the cliff to secure the victims and their dog, and a CHP paramedic hoisted the three to safety at a nearby landing zone.

The victims appeared uninjured other than some scrapes and bumps on the dog.
