A Long Island mother can thank the same volunteer firefighter for helping her and her baby twice in less than three months. Volunteer firefighter Jenn O’Brien was among the emergency responders called to the home in Smithtown and is credited with pulling the mother and the infant from a bathroom in the burning home.

The woman, child and bathroom were all familiar sights for O’Brien. Officials said that on a call three months ago, she delivered the baby she saved Wednesday on that same bathroom floor.

“Jenn obviously is very emotional about this,” said Jeff Bressler, a spokesman for the Smithtown Fire Department. “She has an emotional attachment that she’ll have for the rest of her life to this family.”
