A video report from WTAE looked at a recent incident in which a firefighter rushed to rescue a family trapped inside a car during a flood in Highland Park, Pennsylvania.
The firefighter, Jack Kline, reportedly watched as Washington Boulevard became flooded, with no flood gate to prevent traffic from entering the roadway.
Kline was reportedly off duty when he came to the assitance of a family trapped inside a vehicle. He removed two children from the back seat and told the mother and older daughter to follow him, the report said. Eight minutes later, the water was at the car’s roof line.
“If they would have stayed in the car, they would have drowned,” a WTAE reporter said, and Kline concurred.
