(NBC 12)- PHOENIX – Officials from the Phoenix Fire Department say the rescue efforts to get three people down from a stuck roller coaster at Castles-n-Coasters Sunday were out of the ordinary.
Capt. Reda Bigler told 12 News the fire crew that responded was not a tactical rescue team, but they assessed the situation and determined using their 35-foot latter was the best approach.
Getting stuck on a roller coaster about 65 feet in the air could cause some anxiety for people, said Bigler, explaining how the situation could have been much more.
The family remained calm as fire crews coached them through the rescue.
Exactly why the coaster got stuck is still under investigation.
