LAGRANGE, Ga. — On Saturday, June 4, Deputy Matt Mayfield and Investigator Eric Massengill responded to a 911 call for a vehicle facing the wrong way on Interstate 85.
Deputy Mayfield and Investigator Massengill arrived to the scene and saw an unresponsive man inside the vehicle. Once they had gained entry into the car, the officers discovered the driver had no pulse. Both officers took immediate action and performed CPR as well as placing an AED device on the driver’s body.
Deputy Mayfield and Investigator Massengill continued to save the man until EMS and fire arrived at the scene.
EMS and fire personnel were able to restart the driver’s heart and save another life.
Troup County Sheriff’s office credited both officers for their quick and skillful response as well as thanking the Heart of West Georgia for their generous gift of four AED devices that were given earlier this year.
