(News Herald) – Chris Hudson is a bonafied hero.

Not only did he and his fellow Taylor firefights show up and save an unconscious man’s life, he stayed and finished mowing the man’s lawn.

Hudson and the rest of the crew arrived at the scene with the man’s neighbors giving him CPR, they took over the life-saving procedure, stabilized the man and sent him off to the hospital.

Shift commander Al Young said the call came it at about 7:15 p.m. Aug. 22. When they got there the man had collapsed in the yard next to his lawnmower, which had to be moved out of the way so they could work on him.

After the man was safely on his way, Hudson grabbed the man’s lawnmower and finished the job he had started before going into cardiac arrest.

“I didn’t think much about it,” Hudson said. “The rest of the family and neighbors were scurrying about. I just started cutting the lawn.” Hudson, a 3-year veteran of the department said he didn’t think it was a big deal until it started to go viral online. A neighbor had posted a photo and video of him mowing the yard, which first was posted to Facebook, but then was picked up by local and even international news.
