(Northwest Georgia News) – LaFayette Fire Services is expanding its efforts to get box fans to the needy, particularly to elderly and shut-ins.
With the height of summer heat bearing down, residents more than ever need a way to stay cool, Fire Service Director Stacey Meeks said.
Fire Services in July received about 10 box fans from an individual donor and these were distributed to the needy. But, Meeks said, Fire & Safety has received a lot of requests for box fans from the elderly and shut-ins.
Meeks said Roy Hambrick of Roy’s Bonding has donated money to help buy more box fans. Also, firefighters have donated money to buy fans, he said.
