(Alpharetta Patch) – The Milton Fire-Rescue Department recently concluded its annual Fill the Boot fundraising drive in support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Milton Fire Chief Robert Edgar and members of the Milton Fire-Rescue Department formerly presented the donation to MDA officials during the June 5, 2017 City Council Meeting.
Beginning in April, Milton firefighters collected at key Milton intersections every other Friday through late May. With only six collection days total, Milton residents helped raise $79,347.26 to help in the fight against muscular dystrophy.
“This year marks our 10-year partnership with MDA, we’ve been doing this since our first year of operation,” said Edgar. “The generosity of our Milton residents has helped raise more than $639,000 over the last 10 years.”
According to Milton fire officials, total collections have steadily increased year-over-year with this year’s donations up by two percent from last year’s total.
