(News Jax 4) – As the West Mims wildfire continues to rage through the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia, spilling out of the refuge and forcing evacuations in Southeast Georgia, firefighters battling the blaze are desperate for supplies.
Kingsland, St. Marys and Camden County firefighters need the following:
- Bottled water
- Gatorade
- Baby wipes
- Bug spray
- Non-perishable snacks
- Bandanas
- Large paper towels
- Ice coolers
- Hand sanitizer
- Sunscreen
- WashclothsDonations are being collected at the Hagan Ace Hardware, Callahan Ace Hardware and the Hilliard and Folkston Family Dollar stores. Those donations will be delivered to the St. George Church of God, which is where the firefighters are being fed.
Donations can also be delivered to Charlton County Station 1 in Folkston, Georgia (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.), directly to the Church of God in State Road 94 in St. George or to any fire station in Charlton County.
News4Jax learned Thursday that the St. George Church of God has too many donations. For those who want to help, call the church at 912-843-2285 before dropping anything off.

Funds can be donated to local fire departments, food banks, churches, and schools, to OWL (Okefenokee Wildlife League), the refuge’s friend’s group, or to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which supports families of fallen firefighters.
