(Indiana Times) – A puppy rescued from a burning building is now breathing, all thanks to the efforts of a firefighter who gave it a mouth-to-snout resuscitation for 20 minutes.

The team of firefighters rushed to rescue the owner named Crystal Lamirande and her dog, Nalu from their burning apartment in Santa Monica.

After the team pulled out, Nalu, from the blaze, he was motionless, but one firefighter named Andrew Klein was determined to save the dying pup.

Klein immediately got on his fours and tried to resuscitate Nalu, “I picked him up and ran out of the apartment because time is key, especially with a small dog… Failure was not an option.” he told AP.

Owner Crystal Lamirande, 35, watched on as firemen tried their best to revive her pet.

After a 20-minute-long CPR, Nalu, sprang back to life. “He’s been coughing but right now he’s fine and he’s so happy and smiling,” said Lamirande with a sigh of relief.
