(ABC7) – The actions of a Culpeper, Va. police officer saved a 1-month-old baby girl on Wednesday.

At around 9:00 p.m., Cesar Castillo and Alejandra Rosales called Culpeper Police to their home in the 400 block of North East Street because their young daughter Alexa Rosales was unconscious and not breathing. Alexa’s father tried to administer CPR but he was unsuccessful.

Luckily, K9 Officer D. Cole was in sight of the house when the call came through and was able to get to Alexa quickly and got her breathing again using CPR, according to police.

Alexa was taken to a local hospital and checked before being released that same night.

Officer Cole checked in on the family the next day to make sure Alexa was safe and brought her a stuffed puppy.
