LUMBERTON, NC (NBC NEWS) – As people continue to evacuate parts of North Carolina hit by flooding from Hurricane Matthew, a pack of puppies is joining them.
A team of firefighters rescued more than a dozen dogs Tuesday from a Lumberton animal shelter.
The rescue crew from Charlotte, North Carolina pulled most of the pooches from a truck that was stranded by the floodwaters.
The City of Lumberton is one of the hardest hit areas when it comes to flooding.
A breach along the lumber river prompted flooding Monday morning.
