(FOX 5) CANTON, Ga. – Two Canton police officers’ actions are being called heroic after rushing to the aid of a man who suffered a heart attack at a local gym.
Officers Jimmy Butler and Patrick Duncan were dispatched to the Crossfit Canton Gym where Justin Marion, 41, had collapsed during his workout. The officers found co-owner Karen Camps performing CPR on Marion. Duncan used the Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) in his patrol car as Butler took over performing CPR.
Canton firefighters arrived and rushed Marion to Northside Cherokee Hospital in critical condition. Police said he is recovering from the incident.
Chief Mark J. Mitchell credited Camps and the officers for saving Marion’s life stating they were, “extremely calm, collected and worked as a team during this serious life or death situation.”
