Savannah Fire Marshal Craig Landolt has earned the highest recognition from the Georgia Fire Inspectors Association.
GFIA is proud to announce that Landolt, of Savannah Fire & Emergency Services, has been selected as the GFIA Fire Inspector of the Year for 2015. Landolt has worked in fire prevention and community risk reduction for nearly 21 years and currently serves as the Fire Marshal for the City of Savannah, said Savannah Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Mark Keller. He is being recognized for his significant contributions in the area of fire prevention and fire code enforcement.
Landolt serves on the GFIA Board of Directors as Past President, having previously served as President for four years, Keller said. Landolt has served and represented the GFIA on numerous committees at the State and Federal levels such as the Carbon Monoxide Detectors for Schools Task Force, the USDOT/National Association of State Fire Marshal’s LNG Project Team, and in updating the Georgia Fire Service Strategic Plan.
According to the association, Landolt is credited with improving the business practices of the GFIA, chairing the annual fund raising golf tournament, and representing the Association as a guest speaker for the Carl Vincent Institute at the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia and Georgia Municipal Association conferences, Keller said.
Landolt has provided educational training for fire inspectors throughout the State of Georgia at the GFIA meetings and the Annual Fire Safety Symposium. And Landolt worked with the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire Division in authoring a white paper in support of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Keller said.
Landolt began working for the City of Savannah as a fire inspector in 1995. He was promoted to Fire Marshal in 2007. He holds the title of Certified Fire Code Official through the International Code Council and Certified Fire Inspector through Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training, Keller said. He will be recognized by Georgia Governor Nathan Deal at the State Capital in Atlanta during the “44th Annual Firefighter Recognition Day at the Capital” event on February 2, 2016.
