{"id":16176,"date":"2018-09-18T09:13:09","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T14:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=16176"},"modified":"2018-09-18T09:13:09","modified_gmt":"2018-09-18T14:13:09","slug":"first-responders-rescue-150-residents-stranded-by-hurricane-florences-storm-surge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=16176","title":{"rendered":"First Responders rescue 150 residents stranded by Hurricane Florence&#8217;s storm surge"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fox5atlanta.com\/weather\/rescue-operations-underway-in-new-bern-after-florence-storm-surge-leaves-them-stranded\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox 5<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0Authorities in the coastal city of New Bern were working with federal responders to rescue at least 150 residents who reported themselves stranded in Hurricane Florence\u2019s storm surge.<\/p>\n<p>Colleen Roberts, public information officer for the city of about 30,000 residents,\u00a0told Fox News\u00a0that 200 people had been rescued so far as the Category 1 storm\u00a0battered the area with strong winds and a life-threatening surge.<\/p>\n<p>FEMA teams were employing boats in the rescues and were determining which cases were the most severe.
