(Fox 29<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0A New Jersey firefighter rappelled from a bridge to rescue a\u00a0dog<\/span><\/span>\u00a0stranded at the base of a waterfall.<\/p>\n

Paterson firefighters were called to Great Falls on Sunday. Fire Capt. Scott Parkin made his way down to the animal and lured it in with food. Parkin put a net over the dog before it was lifted to\u00a0safety<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The young pit bull was taken to Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland, where it\u2019s in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Parkin says his father rescued a dog from the same spot in 1975. He says he wasn\u2019t worried about the ascent because the Fire Department\u2019s\u00a0equipment<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is \u201crock solid.\u201d<\/p>\n
