(mypanhandle.com<\/a>) \u2013 On January 1st, Walton County firefighter and EMT, Robert Justice, was on his way to his part-time job with Holmes County EMS. His roommate, a deputy with Holmes County, was in front of him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe pulled over to the side of the road and I thought something was up so I pulled over behind him,\u201d said Robert Justice.<\/p>\n

The pair was then met by a woman and her two young children, \u00a0who tells them her husband was still inside their home, which was on fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a life in danger and I just acted,\u201d said Justice.<\/p>\n

Since Justice\u2019s roommate is a volunteer firefighter, there was gear in his patrol car. Without hesitating, Justice threw it on, and headed into the home, without a hose line or any back up.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bedroom was the only thing not on fire at the time and when I entered the window I had zero visibility,\u201d said Justice.<\/p>\n

Within minutes, he found the man, who was unconscious, and lied him on a nearby bed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI figured I can slide him, slide the bed over, and right out the window and that\u2019s exactly what I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

Holmes county deputies then grabbed the man from the outside, before Justice went back in and rescued the family dog.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn that moment, it was just me, and it was kind of scary,\u201d said Justice. \u201cI had to calm down a little bit. I had to focus on what I had to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
