(theweek.com<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0He\u2019s only been certified as a volunteer firefighter for one month, but high school senior Daniel Dowty has already made his firehouse proud.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old from Wisconsin also works at a Shopko, and during one recent shift, he heard a crash and saw that a co-worker had collapsed. The colleague didn\u2019t have a pulse, and after calling for help, Dowty started administering CPR, which authorities say saved his co-worker\u2019s life. \u201cWhen you look at the survival rates of people who are pulseless, non-breathing, early CPR is the key to reviving those people,\u201d\u00a0Grafton Fire Department Chief Bill Rice told\u00a0Inside Edition<\/em>.\u00a0\u201cIn this case, Daniel was able to provide early CPR, and that\u2019s why he made a difference.\u201d His co-worker has made a full recovery.<\/p>\n

Dowty first became involved with the Grafton Fire Department when he was 14, and he said after he graduates from high school, he\u2019d like to become a full-time firefighter while studying natural resources at the University of Wisconsin.<\/p>\n
