(The Wichita Eagle<\/a>) \u2013 A dog who was saved by police officers as an abandoned apartment was engulfed in flames now has a name to prove it.<\/p>\n

The dog \u2013 now named Smokey \u2013 was pulled to safety, wrapped in a coat and given oxygen by emergency medical technicians, as seen in\u00a0body camera footage<\/a>\u00a0by the Atlanta Police Department.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so incredibly proud of the compassion and love our officers showed for this animal, thank you,\u201d the department posted on Facebook. \u201cWe also thank the firefighters with Atlanta Fire Rescue and Grady\u2019s emergency responders for helping save Smokey.\u201d<\/p>\n
