(11 Alive<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0A Fayette County firefighter is being credited with saving a life when he jumped into action while off-duty.<\/p>\n

According to the Fayette County Fire Department, firefighter Nic Gilmer was at the gym on his day off when a 50-year-old man complained he wasn\u2019t feeling well.<\/p>\n

The man suddenly went into cardiac arrest, but Gilmer started performing CPR while someone else dialed 911. Paramedics arrived within minutes to continue rescue efforts.<\/p>\n

First responders were able to resuscitate the man before taking him to the hospital conscious and talking.<\/p>\n

The department is crediting Gilmer\u2019s actions for saving the man\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
