Safety experts have described low-head dams as\u00a0\u201cdrowning machines,\u201d\u00a0associated with nearly 30 deaths in Indiana since the late 1990s.<\/p>\n

But for Rosenthal, Wednesday\u2019s meeting wasn\u2019t just an opportunity to talk about the dangers of these dams. It was a chance to meet the men who saved his life\u00a0\u2014 in particular, Matt Ramey and Kenny Lang.<\/div>\n

Ramey, an 18-year veteran with IFD, said although the crew was unable to save Morrissey, said it was a good feeling knowing they were able to save Rosenthal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always nice to be thanked \u2014\u00a0anytime you do something, somebody tells you you did a good job, it feels good,\u201d Ramey said. \u201cAnd to know that we made a real difference for a family like that especially, it\u2019s very rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n
