{"id":15214,"date":"2017-06-23T20:07:39","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T20:07:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=15214"},"modified":"2017-06-23T20:07:39","modified_gmt":"2017-06-23T20:07:39","slug":"forsyth-deputy-rescues-2-year-old-from-pool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=15214","title":{"rendered":"Forsyth Deputy Rescues 2-Year-Old From Pool"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.officer.com\/news\/12346138\/georgia-deputy-rescues-2-year-old-from-pool\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">officer.com<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0An off-duty Forsyth County deputy wasn\u2019t just doing his job Sunday when he rescued a 2-year-old girl from his subdivision swimming pool.<\/p>\n<p>He was also saving a friend\u2019s child on Father\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a lot more special that it was a friend\u2019s daughter,\u201d DeputyMike Nelson said Wednesday as he recalled the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nelson said he was sitting near the pool when the girl got in the water.<\/p>\n<p>The girl\u2019s father was in the pool with his other children, and her mother left the girl momentarily to throw away diapers, Nelson said. When the mother returned, the girl wasn\u2019t on her chair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer mom and dad were screaming,\u201d Nelson said.<\/p>\n<p>Nelson and the girl\u2019s father saw the girl, got to her about the same time and pulled her from the water.<\/p>\n<p>Then Nelson\u2019s training took over.
