(Macon.com<\/a>) \u2013 Supporters of Georgia law enforcement will soon be able to buy a license plate to show it.<\/p>\n

The specialty plate<\/a>, early in design, says \u201cback the badge\u201d and features a black ribbon with a Georgia-shaped American flag that has a single stripe of blue in the center.<\/p>\n

The new tag comes after 10 Georgia law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty last year, seven within 70 miles of Macon.<\/p>\n

Aaron Cosby, a Sumter County farmer, suggested the idea for the tag to his legislators after the deaths of Americus Police officer Nick Smarr and Georgia Southwestern State University officer Jody Smith, according to a report from WALB News. The men were shot and killed in December while responding together to a domestic call off campus.<\/p>\n
