(Fox 25 Boston<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0An outing on the Blackstone River turns into an agonizing, and chilly for a man and woman who fell in Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cA tree had fallen into the river and they were clinging on to the tree,\u201d said Dan Desmarais with the Millville Fire Department.<\/p>\n

All around them, the rain-swollen river swirled, but fortunately the had life vests on and that assisted them in staying afloat. The woman also happened to have a cell phone that did not get wet.<\/p>\n

Although they weren\u2019t far from shore, the current was strong and the underwater debris was slippery. Fire crews from surrounding towns responded, but it was Millville<\/p>\n

Firefighter Jake Petrowicz who pulled the couple to safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cFast moving water. It doesn\u2019t look like it really is\u2026 Obviously, they weren\u2019t entirely prepared for that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
