(AJC<\/a>) \u2013 An 8-year-old Clayton County girl with spina bifida woke up her family in time to save them from a fire, her family said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Tamesha Brittenum was the first to wake up when the family\u2019s Forest Park home started to fill with smoke three weeks ago, her mother told Channel 2 Action News.<\/p>\n

Tiffany Brittenum said her daughter screamed at 3 a.m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cGod woke me up, and then I woke my daddy up,\u201d Tamesha said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Teric Brittenum, 15, told the news station if they hadn\u2019t escaped when they did, they wouldn\u2019t have made it out at all.<\/p>\n

Though the family of eight survived the fire, their house was consumed and condemned. They moved into a hotel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe lost everything,\u201d Tiffany said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She and her husband never thought they\u2019d have to rely on the kindness of others to care for their children.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe were a successful family making it, working,\u201d Tiffany said. \u201cMy husband is a painter, and now we\u2019re begging.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Despite the losses, the Brittenum family has kept their faith in God\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and a Bible on the table.<\/p>\n
