(KTLA5<\/a>) \u2013 A police officer in Marion, Ohio, went beyond the call of duty when an elementary school student reached out to the department via Facebook messenger with a request of the sort it had never received before.<\/p>\n

Ten-year-old Lena Draper didn\u2019t know how to go about answering this question: (8+29) x 15.<\/p>\n

So, she turned to Marion PD for answers to her computational conundrum.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m having trouble with my homework. Could you help me?\u201d she asked.<\/p>\n

A fearless Lt. B.J. Gruber, 42, didn\u2019t back down from the task \u2014 despite being several decades removed from 5th-grade math class.<\/p>\n

He replied back, telling the girl to \u201cdo the numbers in the parenthesis first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gruber, speaking to CNN on Tuesday, said the girl\u2019s request \u201creally didn\u2019t strike me as that incredibly odd.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added though that it was the first time the department had ever received a homework question on their Messenger account.<\/p>\n

Seeing as the police were up to their task to protect, serve and calculate, Lena didn\u2019t stop with just one math problem.<\/p>\n
