(WDRB<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0Local firefighters did some Christmas shopping Friday for children whose homes were destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n

The Louisville Professional Firefighters Local 345 donated $5,000 for the shopping spree.\u00a0More than 100 children will receive the\u00a0gifts, which include action figures and,\u00a0of course, fire trucks.<\/p>\n

One firefighter brought his own children with him to help do the shopping.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done this before when I was on duty, and I\u2019ve got two boys and I want them to learn that some people go through some stuff and don\u2019t have all they have,\u201d said Jim Stark with Louisville Fire & Rescue. \u201cSo\u00a0I\u2019m letting them help some people out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Firefighters say it\u2019s nice to be able to help families rebound after seeing them experience the devastation of a fire.<\/p>\n

The gifts will be handed out Monday at the annual Red Cross Christmas Party.<\/p>\n
