Officer saves choking baby &#8216;This will change me for the rest of my life&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.11alive.com\/life\/officer-who-saved-choking-baby-this-will-change-me-for-the-rest-of-my-life\/333466139\" target=\"_blank\">11 Alive<\/a>) \u2013\u00a0It isn\u2019t hard to see the bond between a Greenville, Ga. police officer and the 2-month-old baby girl he saved.<\/p>\n<p>For officer Kenneth Knox, the connection with little Ma\u2019Yavie was almost instant. \u201cShe\u2019s not wiggling, she\u2019s not fussing,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s just nothing like it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the coos and sweet smile from Ma\u2019Yavie are a far cry from the state Knox found the baby earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Knox was <a href=\"http:\/\/11alive.com\/news\/local\/ga-cop-asked-to-be-babys-godfather-after-saving-her-life\/333290321\">responding to the baby\u2019s home<\/a> after her parents made a frantic 911 call to police, telling the dispatcher their daughter couldn\u2019t breathe. By the time Knox responded, the circumstances looked\u00a0grim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had turned a blueish-purple and her eyes had glazed over. She was not breathing,\u201d he recounted to 11Alive\u2019s Kaitlyn Ross. \u201cThey were screaming, \u2018Please save my baby!\u2019 and the baby was limp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ma\u2019Yavie was choking on the cereal her parents fed her an hour before. The Greenville officer laid the 2-month-old on the floor, but couldn\u2019t find a pulse. Desperate, he sucked the cereal out of her throat, and she started breathing again immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI swear to God, that just for a second, she looked up at me and smiled,\u201d Knox said. Still shaken from the experience, he wrote about the incident <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=290463541338112&amp;set=a.131531777231290.1073741828.100011234052174&amp;type=3&amp;theater\">on his Facebook page<\/a>, saying when Ma\u2019Yavie started crying, it was music to his ears.
