(KTRK<\/a>) \u2014 Texas Children\u2019s Hospital has been the home of little Michael Aydan for about a week. He\u2019s been surrounded by his family, and now he\u2019s gained two more \u201crelatives\u201d that wear a badge.<\/p>\n

At just two years of age, Michael has been through more than anyone could ever imagine. \u201cHe had four open heart surgeries by the time he was six months,\u201d said his mother Jacquelynne Olmedo, \u201cand the fourth one was a heart transplant.\u201d<\/p>\n

He accepted his tiny new heart with no complications. But just a week ago on their way to the hospital, Olmedo noticed little Michael started turning purple.<\/p>\n

Harris County precinct 5 deputy Manuel Edwards happened to be working traffic control nearby. Olmedo pulled up behind him in a desperate panic.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst, what I wanted to do was calm her down a bit,\u201d Edwards said.<\/p>\n

Then, Olmedo said he did something she never would have expected. \u201cHe called for help and then he just grabbed my hand and said that God is with us and this is gonna pass.\u201d<\/p>\n

And in that moment of prayer, Olmedo saw a miracle. \u201cThe baby started moving around like nothing happened and I really think at that moment it really did something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Afterwards, she never thought she\u2019d see Deputy Edwards again. But to her surprise, hours later, he and another officer arrived at Michael\u2019s hospital room with toys and balloons.<\/p>\n

The baby\u2019s struggle hit home with Edwards \u2014 just a year ago, he lost his three-month old granddaughter.<\/p>\n

He said Michael \u201chas his moment where he can smile and do those things, but with me, I can\u2019t see my grand-baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

But now, Olmedo says Deputy Edwards has gained a grandson and she hopes he\u2019ll get to see Michael grow up to be healthy and strong.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
