(WSAW<\/a>) \u2014<\/strong><\/span> Members of the Granton Fire Department pulled a man out of more than six feet of flooding water Wednesday night. The Granton Fire Chief said the man\u2019s vehicle was swept off the road after he drove through a closed road that was covered in water.<\/p>\n

The driver eventually got out of his vehicle and was taken away by the strong current. That\u2019s when the fire department heard him calling for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cA few of the guys went down farther to listen and see if we could find him further down. That\u2019s when someone reported that we could hear him by the bridge, \u201d explained Jason Strey, a firefighter who was on the scene and helped save the man\u2019s life.<\/p>\n

Three other fire departments helped rescue the man. Chief Chester Oldham said their department didn\u2019t have all the equipment needed to pull him from the 40 MPH waters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI called the Neillsville Fire Department, Loyal Fire Department for boats and in the meantime I called Pittsville for mutual aide, \u201d said Chief Oldham.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were times I thought It was the end of it, but my guys and gals both worked together and pulled us out as quick as possible,\u201d said Strey while explaining how difficult it was to pull the man from safety.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
