(KTSA<\/a>) \u2013 Four children are safe after dramatic rescues by police and firefighters.<\/p>\n

San Antonio Police Officer Timothy Bowen was first on the scene when a fire broke out shortly after 8 Monday morning at the Coronado Apartments on Lorene near McCarty Road.<\/p>\n

Woody Woodward with the San Antonio Fire Department says it started on a stairwell and quickly spread to some second-floor apartments.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn one apartment, we had four children who were by themselves and they were standing by a window,\u201d said Woody Woodward with the San Antonio Fire Department.<\/p>\n

Officer Bowen talked three of them into jumping into his arms.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fourth child was too scared to jump,\u201d said Woodward.<\/p>\n

Firefighters arrived moments later and rescued him from the apartment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an incredible day of heroes with police and firefighters rescuing these children,\u201d said Woodward.<\/p>\n
