{"id":14079,"date":"2016-06-13T17:33:25","date_gmt":"2016-06-13T17:33:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=14079"},"modified":"2016-06-13T17:33:25","modified_gmt":"2016-06-13T17:33:25","slug":"cape-girardeau-officer-helps-young-boy-get-new-bike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=14079","title":{"rendered":"Cape Girardeau officer helps young boy get new bike"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>Read the full story <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfvs12.com\/story\/32195298\/cape-girardeau-officer-helps-young-boy-get-new-bike\" target=\"_blank\">HERE\u203a\u203a<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"WNStoryDateline\">(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kfvs12.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">KFVS<\/a>) \u2013<\/span>A Cape Girardeau police officer in the right place at the right time helped\u00a0a little boy.<\/p>\n<p>According to the department, Officer Peters was blocking traffic at the corner of Sprigg and Morgan Oak because of a fire.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Peters noticed a little boy riding a bike across Morgan Oak.<\/p>\n<p>A pickup truck rounded the corner and the 7-year-old tried to use his feet to stop the bike, but ended up laying the bike down to avoid being hit by the truck.<\/p>\n<p>So, Officer Peters went to talk with the boy who identified himself as Shont-tez Bell. He told the officer that he had to lay his bike down because it didn\u2019t have brakes.<\/p>\n<p>Shont-tez asked Officer Peters for a band aid, so the pair went to the ambulance that was a couple of blocks away to get Shont-tez fixed up.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Peters learned that Shont-tez lived in the apartment that was on fire.<\/p>\n<p>So, on Wednesday, Officer Peters took Shont-tez to Walmart. Renee Fischer with Cape Girardeau Walmart helped the pair get Shont-tez a new bike.
