{"id":13795,"date":"2016-03-21T15:42:40","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T15:42:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=13795"},"modified":"2016-03-21T15:42:40","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T15:42:40","slug":"zephyrhills-officer-saves-choking-boy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=13795","title":{"rendered":"Zephyrhills officer saves choking boy"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>Read more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tbo.com\/pasco-county\/zephyrhills-officer-saves-choking-boy-20160319\/\" target=\"_blank\">HERE\u203a\u203a<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tbo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">THE TAMPA TRIBUNE<\/a>) \u2013 A city police officer is being credited with helping save the life of a 1-year-old boy who was choking on a piece of candy last weekend as the city\u2019s 106th annual Founder\u2019s Day Parade ended.<\/p>\n<p>Zephyrhills Officer Giovanni Marcacci was patrolling an area near Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street when he noticed people panicking, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Marcacci) was at the end of the block and ran toward the boy, right on Fifth Avenue,\u201d City Manager Steve Spina said.<\/p>\n<p>The boy, Elijah Rivera, was with his family near a small park when he began to choke, said Spina, adding that he was proud of Marcacci\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n<div id=\"outstream-mediabong\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been here a couple years and been a good addition to the police force,\u201d Spina said. \u201cHe did what he needed to do. It just shows their training.
