How high does a raccoon have to climb to get a little peace? Higher than the top of a light pole apparently.<\/p>\n

The Austin Fire Department\u00a0took on an unusual rescue mission<\/a>\u00a0Friday\u00a0when it received a call alerting them to a\u00a0wayward raccoon who\u00a0found himself the perfect spot for a nap atop a light pole along Highway 71.<\/p>\n

The caller expressed concern that the raccoon might fall into traffic and cause an accident.<\/p>\n

Firefighters Dean Murphy and Chelsea Caloia climbed to the raccoon, who looked less comfortable than a bird in a nest, netted him and safely returned him to the ground.<\/p>\n

The raccoon was then given to Animal Control and taken to a safer location.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
