(KGW.com<\/a>) \u2013 A deputy rescued a 2-year-old who was running down Highway 101 and police released the video as a vivid warning for distracted drivers.<\/p>\n

The dash cam video shows the child suddenly appearing in the roadway ahead of the patrol car, barely visible at first. Lincoln County Deputy Jeremy Gautney quickly rescued the child from the danger of passing motorists.<\/p>\n

\u201cShortly after removing the child from the highway, Deputy Gautney was alerted to the child\u2019s frantic parents who were searching for him,\u201d said Lincoln County Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesman Lt. Curtis Landers. \u201cThe child was returned to them unharmed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Landers said the family had been cleaning up after a nearby gathering when the child slipped out through an open door and ran straight to the highway.\u201d<\/p>\n
