(FOX 10<\/a>) \u2013 It\u2019s a police rescue that has the makings of a Hollywood Movie. A Pelahatchie Police Officer helped\u00a0save\u00a0a mom and child.<\/p>\n

Kristy Irby and her two-year-old daughter Alley were minutes from drowning on Leesburg Road when a Pelahatchie Police Officer saved their lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cA deer had come across right here,\u00a0and I was going to try to get off the road without hitting another car and we slid and nose dove into about 10 feet of water,\u201d said Irby.<\/p>\n

Kristy said \u00a0the accident happened Tuesday in the pouring rain, and her main focus was getting her little one\u00a0 out the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe finally landed against a tree and I wrapped my legs around the tree,\u201d said Irby.\u00a0\u201cI was trying to pull myself up \u00a0\u00a0and the limbs were breaking and I kept telling Alley God is going to take care of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the mother and daughter were praying, a passerby saw the accident and called 911.<\/p>\n

The Police dispatch then contacted \u00a0officer Shane Gibson, who rushed to the accident where he could hear the mom screaming for help.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was extremely loud and I can hear a baby crying,\u201d said officer Gibson.<\/p>\n

Gibson then jumped in the water to pull the two to safety<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a log and got the baby and set her down on the bank,\u201d said Gibson.\u00a0\u201cAnd I went back and grabbed the mother and we worked getting out of the creek.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gibson said he doesn\u2019t consider himself a hero. The veteran officer said he is just pleased he was able to help save lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you hear a woman hollering we are rowing, you don\u2019t stand there,\u201d said Gibson. \u201cYou just do what you have to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
