(AJC<\/a>) \u2013 A local canine has a new hometown hero after being rescued from a burning home.<\/p>\n

When Gwinnett County firefighters responded to a Lawrenceville house fire Thursday morning, they found all four family members already safely evacuated.<\/p>\n

As the firefighters started to battle the fire, family members said a dog and cat were still trapped inside.<\/p>\n

Firefighters entered the home and rescued the small dog, but were \u201cunable to locate the cat,\u201d\u00a0according to Gwinnett County firefighter captain Tommy Rutledge.<\/p>\n

Authorities believe the cat was able to escape the blaze.<\/p>\n

The crew \u201cdid a great job of stopping the fire from spreading,\u201d Rutledge said.<\/p>\n

The fire department said the fire accidentally started after burning incense was left unattended. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
