{"id":13505,"date":"2015-12-03T20:00:37","date_gmt":"2015-12-03T20:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=13505"},"modified":"2015-12-03T20:01:02","modified_gmt":"2015-12-03T20:01:02","slug":"officer-helps-family-escape-carbon-monoxide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/georgiaarsoncontrol.org\/?p=13505","title":{"rendered":"Officer Helps Family Escape Carbon Monoxide"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p>Read the original report\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/ap\/state\/sioux-falls-officer-helps-save-family-from-carbon-monoxide\/article_8475ef9e-b6f5-5008-b61d-2beedfc347e9.html\" target=\"_blank\">HERE\u203a\u203a<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(<a href=\"http:\/\/siouxcityjournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sioux City Journal<\/a>) A Sioux Falls police officer is being credited with helping save members of a family overcome by carbon monoxide gas in their home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Michael and Marchelle Holloway and their four children ranging in age from 10 to 15 were poisoned by the potentially deadly gas Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI really didn\u2019t know what was going on,\u201d Marchelle Holloway said. \u201cI jumped up because I was in bed and I fell straight to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Michael Holloway was able to get one child outside, and his wife was able to call 911. Officer Ryan Chase, a 17-year veteran of the police force, responded.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be deadly. Chase had never encountered it before but knew immediately after arriving at the home that it was a bad situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI went in and just started getting everybody out,\u201d Chase said, adding that the gas made him \u201clight-headed, and my skin felt tingly.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"video-ad-asset-container-played\" class=\"\">\n<div id=\"video-ad-asset\" class=\"vjs-user-inactive vjs-controls-disabled vjs-default-skin video-js video-responsive vjs-waiting vjs-playing\">\n<div class=\"\">\u00a0\u00a0Police Chief Matt Burns said Chase went \u201cabove and beyond the call of duty\u201d by entering the house numerous times at the risk of his own safety to help rescue the family.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"\">The Holloway family spent two hours recovering at a hospital.
